He has no idea how ANYTHING works. The inside of that tangerine-flocked shell of a skull is hollow white noise. Whenever he’s in meetings, or international conferences, he just sits there staring around at all the big words floating around him, waiting for one he recognizes.

I further submit that he doesn’t know one thing about our legal system, nor does he think that any laws apply to him (which was a belief he had before he was President).

Well, he did promise to run the country like one of his businesses!

Respectfully, I disagree. I think Justice Roberts is actually the best tactician the Republicans have, and is hamstrung mainly by the fact that nobody in the Republican party listens to him. But yes, he actually is very much a party-line justice. Take his most famous vote against the “party line”, the one on the

He signed off on this, though (you know, as opposed to voting the other way).

Or....

they file it in what’s called the 9th Circuit

You cut off the best part of Trump’s quote...

“It’s a disgrace when every case gets filed in the 9th Circuit,” Trump said as part of a lengthy criticism of the court. “That’s not law. Every case in the 9th Circuit we get beaten and then we end up having to go to the Supreme Court like the travel ban and we won. Every

There no industry in workers which will not recognize benefits through unionization. Anyone who claims otherwise does not have the interests of the workers in mind.

Never forget: there is an inherent conflict of interests between the worker and the employer. It is the same conflict of interest that exists in every market economy between seller and buyer: the seller wants the most for the goods or services they sell and the buyer wants the most for the money they pay. The

Agree with you. It's clear the equity firm didn't intent to make Toys R Us a viable company. They were trying to strip it bare for profit. And the people who pay are the employees.

I also forgot to mention that many PE deals are structured as an LBO or very heavily debt financed. Essentially, what that means is that in order to pay the shareholders of a target company a PE firm will take out a bunch of debt and then, through the merger process it gets shoved down to the target company’s balance

I was hoping for David Baria personally but I’ll take a corporate to the core Democrat over her anyday. As someone that lives in the state that this awful woman represents in the Senate, she is horrible. We are mainly a agricultural state and the taxs and tariffs Trump has implemented is already killing farmers here.

Am a lawyer,  in house for a company that barely survived the private equity wheel of doom.  $20M is extremely generous, because the severance obligation is unsecured and worth 0 cents on the dollar in such a situation.  This was good activists putting political pressure on the secured debtholders.

No. The “court battle” would have been “Hey, that’s great, now get in line with all the other unsecured creditors”.

They couldn’t have won the $75m in court so in that sense you could say $20 mil was not bad. It’s obviously not enough. But they are still hoping to get several other firms who had pieces of the company to pay into that fund so it could get bigger.

Sure, but the PE model is also somewhat to blame. Their investments are rarely longer-term than 10 years and they have few incentives to invest in a company they own that’s struggling when they can restructure and sell off the parts or mostly be made whole by manipulating the bankruptcy system with high priced

[...]it is proof that even without a formal labor union in place, the richest, most powerful, and most rarefied financiers in the world can be moved by a strong labor campaign. Never forget it.

There’s no reason it’s not repeatable. They are running a pretty standard labor/ media campaign. They created bad PR for companies like to stay out of the news and eventually the companies wanted to make it stop. That can work in many, many situations.

The heart of the republican party is tiny and shriveled. Let’s stamp out republican/fascism in our life times.
