This would be a much more compelling argument if it didn’t always come from the side that believes black people belong in prison and all workplace safety and anti-discrimination protections should be eliminated along with the minimum wage.
It’s a common argument, but I don’t know that it’s necessarily accurate. I think people underestimate how much of the difference between the illegally-low wage and the market wage goes into the owner’s pocket and not into lowering the price of the product.
