I'm guessing that you're thinking a normal BMW 3 series... since they've made less than 100 of the H50s, and there's only one in North America...

I think if as much R&D was put into carbs as goes into fuel injection systems today, it would be possible. With the carbs of yesteryear? No.

My buddy had the hood on his WRX fly open due to a latch failure. Not only did it bend both hinges, it smashed his windshield too...

I always laugh every time I see a BMW for sale on Craigslist and one of their biggest selling points is that "it has all the original tools in the toolbox!"

I've found that reverse-opening hoods are easier to remove and reinstall then their "normal" counterparts. Plus, they ensure that if you're hood latch fails, the hood won't come flying open at high speeds.

I used to do this all morning with my brothers! On a few occasions we managed to get cars so high into the air that they were at 2 or 3 times the height of the safety fence! This one gets my vote for sure.
