I fully agree as I owned an e39 M5. Interestingly I thought 400 hp was overkill and sold it for a JCW Mini, I get far more satisfaction driving the Mini harder everywhere. I do miss the rwd, interior and exhaust note though. Also the 6 to 3 shift at wot is a thing of magic in the M5.

207000 miles on mine and still loving that muffler deleted 1st-2nd-3rd full throttle run. Sometimes I wish for more power, but with a 3.45 diff it’s very playful for everyday use. Hail to the king!

m5 sold its soul. it used to be a sports car that was a sedan, now its trying to be a muscle car that’s a sedan, but trying to take on some of the RS7's straight line audobon cruise missile vibe. its trying to be too many things at once and none if it is the ultimate driving machine.
