It's got an R rating somehow, and I can't imagine how else.

Yeah, I'm right there with you here.

Man moths?

Everyone was praising the direction as being really clear wrt the action, but I still felt it was hard to follow sometimes. Especially when it was bouncing between "realism" and comic-book goofiness.

I finally got around to watching two much-ballyhooed action films.

I like Kevin Weekes.

Strategic bombing against rail lines is not effective, because strategic bombing is not accurate nor is destroying a piece of rail in any way difficult to repair. The best thing to disrupt the logistics of Nazi Germany was exactly what Bomber Command was doing: targeting the cities where the communications, junctions,

It's not exactly inaccurate. The Allied forces were always more mechanized than their German counterparts, with the exception of the first two years of the Eastern front.

While the Holocaust wasn't the specific reason that the US was fighting Germany, the racialized worldview espoused by Hitler was the direct cause of the invasion of Poland, and the war in Europe in general. I don't think it's misleading to present a concentration camp as emblematic of the reasons the US was at war

I'd probably hold off on kissing someone who's had any allegations of cannibalism thrown at them. Just saying there, Alana.

I think the historians that espouse this view draw on the similarity of German ambition for Eastern European colonies, something not previously aimed for by Prussia.

Watching Snowpiercer reminded me of how stupid Marxist history is.

I saw Snowpiercer. Eh.

I don't really feel anything about the cancellation. I love Community but I also feel it has run its course. I was disappointed by the fifth season, and although I was looking forward to another, I didn't feel like it needed to happen or that I particularly desired it.

This is demonstrably false, and an invention of Hollywood. There were some acute logistical problems very early in the war, but the notion that by 1942 the Soviets were throwing unarmed masses at the Germans is a ludicrous fiction.

It's crazy to look how many casualties there were in pilot training, for example. Something like 15,000 for Americans alone.

A large part of the problem has been Ava's storyline. Justified is usually a show that is fairly light in tone, so having what seems to be a shaggy dog story mixed with misery porn just kind of drags down everything around it. The storyline was just so needlessly complex; it could have been cut down to half of what

You haven't watched Black Mirror?

I've been pretty disappointed in this season. The first two episodes were so promising, but the rest of the season has tended to excess.

I'm not really excited either. It's a show that could be utterly phenomenal, but just kills itself by a thousand cuts.
