Let’s be fair, 0% for 84 months on a half ton is a pretty good deal.  Dealer traffic is beyond slow, so the chances of getting a fantastic deal are good.  However, dealers still need to make a little money, so its not like you’ll ever see 12k off AND 0% for 84. 

Serious question... and this is before I read everything you wrote... Do you consider Target, Walmart, or Amazon to be a "bump in the line" trying to profit off of others making a profit?

Well, think about the fact many places are offering 0% and deferred payments for 90-120 days... for some people who already have a payment, it would be a great time. Lower your interest rate, keep payments about the same and have no payment due for a few months.
