I love both The Great Mouse Detective and An American Tail. I was seven when they came out, so I was squarely in the target audience. I owned the book version of the former and the vinyl soundtrack of the latter (which I actually still have).

It’s got some solid jokes here and there but it often feels too generic for a Spongebob film.
