Every time the old men in charge of my company suggest that my team switch from voluntary hybrid to mandatory 7 day a month hybrid, they spout total bullshit like ‘working in-person strengthens bonds and increases happiness in workgroups.’ I always have two responses. First, please cite the studies that show in-person

Shadow guy has no idea what he’s speaking on.

Most of these aren’t performance cars, but just merely “sporty” looking shitboxes.

Clearly I was either drunk or slept through the 90s and had zero notion that half of the cars listed were “supposed” to be performance cars.

My parents had a ‘93 (albeit a base model) - disposable isn’t the same as lacking durability/reliability. Simple, sturdy enough little cars for the time, but so worthless filling up the tank might cost more than the car.

The base 2.2L naturally aspirated engine in them made about that same 90hp number. The intercooled turbo version made 175hp.

Cars like this still exist in rural and low income areas, in addition to a ton of Cavaliers, old Taurus and GM FWD A-bodies. We all live in our own bubbles. Where I live now I don’t see many ‘91‘s of any make or model.

1991 was 32 years ago. That still surprises the fuck out of me.

Tell me you know nothing of these cars without telling me....

The Beretta GTZ came with the Quad4 HO, a 5-speed manual, and ran 0-60 in 7.5 seconds.
It also held Car and Driver’s “Highest FWD car Skidpad” for the time.

A 5-speed ES with the V-6 or the turbo wasn’t bad though.

With the Quad 4 and the stick it wasn’t terrible in the realm of 90's FWD “performance” cars. 180+hp.

Not sure if it was actually bad to drive, but the catfish Camaro, cause it’s ugly

You’re very smart sir, well done.

Based from the comments on these videos, people see through the smoke and mirrors and aren’t buying it. I guess not all hope is lost.

I guess murdering the whole planet IS technically acting as a change agent for our future?

I really don’t understand why commercials for Volt and cars like it aren’t more explicit about the range point, driving home the fact that it has plenty for most peoples’ daily use but can then be a regular ICE when needed for longer trips. Hybrid is going to be the gateway drug for a lot of people who need to see it

And your perception is backed by data. Most people don’t need more than 40-50 miles of range a day. The Volt covered the majority of daily driving tasks on electric WITH the ICE back-up! Win/win... or at least box checked and box checked.

Yeah, like what? The Volt was amazing for what it was - it wasn’t going to be a performance car, it exceled at being a PHEV and had better electric-only range than almost any other PHEV on the market then or now. Hell, drive one and it drives like an EV. Not a performance EV, but like an EV, which is to say that the

I always thought the Volt was the perfect bridge between ICE and EV. 1st gen had almost 40 miles EV range, 2nd gen had over 50. Covers almost everyone’s commute. And then they have an ICE generator that eliminates range anxiety you get in other EVs. I’m surprised that it wasn’t better accepted.

Not fast cars, but 0-60
