I agree. I reject the bizarre argument that anything a woman chooses to do is inherently feminist simply because: free will!

Perhaps the term you are looking for is "patriarchal bargain." When women make decisions that are good for them personally, but bad for women as a group.

I agree!

He's saying that having children is better than going on vacations, seeing the world, etc.

No, he means having children is better than going on holidays, having a house in the country, etc.

Because anywhere else they are just another number, but here, it's instant attention. Negative, to be sure, but I guess some people enjoy that. Plus, some people are just jack asses so if they can annoy you online, then it's some big win. I don't get it, but then, I'm not an asshole who goes out of her way to annoy

No, but I am intrigued. Will have to google Ken Forkish.

:) True, although I avoid buying whole loaves of artisanal bread from the truly wonderful bakery next door because I have no delicious food willpower and would eat an entire chocolate bread loaf, or rosemary garlic bread in one evening if I had it. #CarbAddict

Not only do websites exist to address specific issues that some guys want to talk about, but there is an inordinate amount of hostility towards women in general on a variety of websites. Even websites that have nothing to do with gender issues.

Oh hey! I see I was cursed at and another post deleted because I can't "take a goddamn joke." And after I genuinely said how much I loved this blog.

Oh absolutely, guys get the short end of the stick on some things. Child custody issues? Women aren't automatically the better parent based upon biology - so sexist. Nope, women weren't born to stay at home and take care of the kiddos. The other thing that gets to me is Selective Service. As the mother of grown sons,

:D Oh, yeah, I know. I do the same thing (check out other stories that seem intriguing). I always wonder though about guys who will only post on Jezebel to defend some sort of status quo thing. I mean, I don't like Saved by the Bell, which is why I don't go to the Saved by the Bell forum on IMDB. (But I suspect others

I'm pretty sure it's been at least 25 years since I washed a car. Possibly 30 years. It's been 38 years since I've made a bed.

Haha, seriously? Nope, I live in a very blue part of Orlando in the blue county of Orange. Still pretty cheap to live here, though my area is experiencing gentrification (from working class to creative class). It's a great area, but if someday I can move to another up and coming city, I will.

Haha! Not at all. It's just puzzling when people hang out in certain areas due to their interests (fine and, you know, expected), but also feel compelled to pop into discussions on other blogs for the express purpose of injecting their counter opinion.

Fair enough. I happen to live in a very progressive (artisanal!) part of Florida, so I am always ready to defend other great places and people that aren't Austin or Portland.

People in Detroit are working their asses off to rebuild their once great city into something even better.

I was just in Detroit for a conference and it was

I love your blog to death, but I will defend artisanal toast to the death.

Wash my car!? What? Not gonna happen.
