It's a pretty big concept, I guess. It encompasses a lot of different factors, but if you take the arts (which is still the best example, since that's what made me think of it in the first place) then you could imagine you are an artist that produces works of art.

The discussion was basically generated by the stance our government (Holland) has taken on the arts. They are basically saying: "if you cannot make your art profitable on its own, then you don't need to exist."

Well, I guess I'm just basically summarising the whole thing to the point of it being illegible. What do you consider to be the source of "value" for a product? Why don't we start there :P

I was recently reminded of a topic I discussed some time ago. It's an interesting thing to think about, IMO. Basically, the idea is that in contemporary western society, there is a shift in value judgements that essentially equates "value" with "something you can sell". Things that you cannot sell are losing their

You sould also factor in that elaborate MP has running costs that don't exist in SP. I would be interested to see these "numbers" you speak of, and if they include such costs. Regardless, I don't think making everything follow one guideline is a good idea in any creative industry.

But are you willing to accept a half-baked multiplayer, just to boost sales?

Electronic Arts? Ah, shit. There goes the planet.

That doesn't sound very good indeed. Staring at a wall should at least help, unless they've somehow managed to get their networking to block up rendering threads (which is a massive nono) I might have to play it sometime just to see how bad it is xD

I AM DARKWING DUCK!

Guess I remembered that wrong. So he's even more off than I suspected xD

That's a common issue in any MMO, but it was particularly noticable in the game some of the TERA developers worked on previously: Lineage 2. Funny thing is it didn't have that much to do with graphics fidelity then either, just with raw object count as far as I could tell. You could tone down the maximum number of

Not to mention, he's referencing the fact that TERA runs smoothly as a valid reason why GW2 should also run smoothly. I guess he doesn't know they don't run on the same graphics engine, for one. They may share a publisher, but that about ends whatever the two games have in common.

I'm all for people using words I don't know. Teach me something new at least. God forbid people should keep away from me what I don't know, that would really make me an idiot.

Seems the edit feature could be the culprit then... A test.

Yeh. It also seems to just make line-breaks disappear...

lolz... btw, wtf is up with kotaku's weird reformatting of posts and adding nonsensical links everywhere?

Bummer.

The bag is pretty cool. It doesn't have a character's face/ass/tits on it or anything. Classy.

Ah, that voice brings back memories. Really going to enjoy this.

But at least you wont be running the servers over the internet.
