Even the stuff they didn’t invent, they made it work for the mass market. The analog stick wasn’t their invention (PC had them long prior, as did Atari 5200, etc.), but they took it, made it work and work well, and they demonstrated how it should work in the new 3D space.

Yeah, that’s right - I remember seeing it at Toys R Us way back then in their security case and wondering why the heck anyone would buy that crap.

They wisely passed on it, while the control innovations I mentioned have all become mainstream features on practically every console.

Keep in mind “Officially Licensed” back then meant that little “Nintendo Seal of Approval” gold seal that was nothing more than recognition you gave Nintendo a cut and weren’t going to

The update is fine, haven’t really noticed frame rate issues on the XB1 - but it might be lower. I also noticed the +attack power runestones used to go into armor, now they only go into swords. My armor currently has a bunch of slots filled with things that say they go in swords. Haven’t tried the new movement, but I

Power Glove was not Nintendo’s product, it was third party (Mattel I think). Power Pad as well.

That’s how gamers think. Notably Sony fanboys. Look up all the hate Adam Sessler got over Killzone 2 when he gave it a great review, yet it wasn’t “great” enough. A headline game for a Sony platform has to get 95+ or the NeoGAF legions descend upon the publication claiming bias - or even worse, if the reviewer is a

It tells me the boss is significantly over-tuned. I doubt the length of time was due to them not thinking it through right. The boss is clearly meant to be beaten with a significant amount of gear from the other Mythic bosses having been farmed. The first kills on tough bosses are always impressive because not only do

Yes, 1 was good but had some issues, 2 was amazing and 3 was just sort of “meh”. I enjoyed the Vita version more than 3. Hoping that 4 is able to recapture the magic from part 2.

The Harley DLC was so short and pointless. Really soured me on the idea of picking the Season Pass up anytime before it is HEAVILY discounted. I was thinking about it, the story add-ons for City and Origins were both meaty and decent (as was Catwoman in City) - but if we are going to get these little bites instead of

Are you confusing “bad movie” with “I don’t like it”? Congrats on pretty much doing exactly what the dude talking did. Maybe they need to bring in you as a consultant for the sequel so they won’t be stuck with another “bad movie” that makes a billion dollars. And before you say it, no profits don’t equal “good movie”,

Yeah, Avatar totally bombed in the theater. It would be a complete mistake to follow that model.

The guy is sitting in a panel specifically to watch that trailer, yet he is “not interested” despite every previous iteration of the property in any form is 100% computer animated. I would say hipster as well, but I’m more picturing the Simpson’s comic book nerd with less nasal in his voice.

Anyone in a 2 mile radius should see it. :)

Too true. I get the reason why they do it, just it is incredibly not realistic. I think he finds a good balance between “fun” and “realism”. But this one just seems like one step shy of waving a magic wand or sprinkling invisible pixie dust on the bodies.

Those balloons always make me wonder how none of the other guards see people flying up into the sky. I know they have those little vision cones, but no one fucking looks UP at the bodies flying in the wind? It just seems like a cop out to making body hiding not be necessary.

You are caught up in Heath Ledger’s (admittedly amazing) take on the character. The whole patchwork thing was questioned just as strongly as Leto’s look prior to the Dark Knight.

Yes, but $60 in 1993 money (when Contra 3 came out) is worth anywhere between $100 to $170 depending on the factors you consider. That more than makes up for the cost of materials. A $60 USD game is equivalent to less than $25. And it takes a ton more effort to make a game today. There was standardized pricing back

Sure. He has no input whatsoever. Uh huh. He certainly didn’t make a demo and charge $40 for it now did he? If he went to the Konami brass and said “Hey, we can put in some micro transactions to help fund the development of this huge game” they totally would have said “No”, right? You sure are awfully willing to give

Why does Kojima always get full credit for the good things Metal Gear does, and passed over for all the bad stuff? As far as we know the micro transaction stuff might have been his doing. After all, he has made many boneheaded decisions in the past (ahem, Snake not being the main character in MGS2 ... among others).

Go watch a Platoon if you want dark, gritty realism. This is a comic book movie. There is a reason why Marvel movies have been beating the shit out of DC movies, they get that you don’t have to go dark, violent and angry to make an enjoyable movie in this genre.
