Not to diminish anyone's insider view of NYC, but this is what happens almost anywhere when money and/or a different culture moves in. Yes, there are gentrification issues that are specific to the area, but overall the process is always fraught.

Chimamanda Adichie has some excellent work out. One of my cousins put me on to Purple Hibiscus a few years ago and it was the start to discovering a gifted author I had not known of before. I may be the last Beyonce fan to listen to her latest album yet - but I am glad Ms. Adichie is getting more recognition.
