Hang it up, kid. You’re unequivocally and empirically wrong.
“Fueling rumors that there’s a hotter Ferrari 488 on the way...”
It most certainly does matter.
...that’s when it matters most.
They have short enough legs.
Weird, since everyone in that video seems thoroughly competent, careful, and generally intelligent. I guess this just goes to show you that freak accidents can occur to the best of us no matter how many precautions you take.
Sorry, but I won’t trust the numbers from a dyno where they weren’t even able to get an RPM pickup or properly measure torque.
I honestly don’t care for ring lap times since it’s clear that many manufactures cheat. I take Randy Pobst at Motor Trend a lot more seriously specially when it’s head to head.
This video is pretty much a PSA on “great ways to hurt yourself,” but uh, somehow this heavily modified Chevy…
It’s a 1.6l NA Miata, weight is pretty much the only advantage I have. I run all events with the needle at E or lower and have never had any fuel starve issues in 6 years racing 20+ events a year. I credit Mazda and whoever designed the fuel tank, that’s how all cars should be made.
The idea that not only do these people think they need protection all the time, but that they also think that they’re the ones who could stop an attack bewilders me.
And why should I trust those “few otherwise law abiding gun owners” with my life? And how am I to distinguish should a situation arise where these “few otherwise law abiding gun owners” are “needed”. Let it go. Good guy with a gun isn’t a thing.
A lot of people have the wrong assumption that FWD=Understeer. Which is far from the truth, a properly set up FWD car will absolutely oversteer on command if you know how to do it.
You lost me at “Back then, Acura claimed a 0-60 acceleration time of 6.5 seconds”...
FWD cars are mostly traction-limited in the 0-60 times, which is why it’s growing less and less important. That and the fact that manufacturers can often massage 0-60 times by ensuring that it can hit it in 2nd gear, for instance...
Did you mod the engine? I know redline is 8400 rpm and fuel cutoff is at 8800rpm. At least it is on my 97. I know Spoon had an ECU mod that will let it spin to 10,000 rpm.
Few engines produce peak power at redline. Remember these engines have minimal torque, and what it does have is way up top. So holding till 9 puts the engine in a better RPM on the upshift.
You were at Palmer Motorsports Park in Ware, MA I assume from the photos. I was there in March for a rainy day as well, and I’ve been there on a dry day. That track surface has an amazing amount of grip wet or dry so its hard to compare to Mosport. However, the confidence and speed you may have had could also be…
“Honestly I’m not even sure a treaded rain tire would do its job correctly on an oval” can almost guarantee that it wouldn’t. At least, not in the application of NASCAR
