You’re overlooking one very important aspect of Corvette customers.

Same here, but our family car back in those days was a ‘67 SS/RS Camaro, and dad being a hot rodder , was anything but stock.

A few years ago, I looked seriously at one of these....It was a manual, and in nearly perfect condition, and I still somewhat regret not having pulled the trigger.
The problem I have with Ford’s strategy is that by abandoning the passenger car market in favor of SUV’s, or crossovers, Ford is putting themselves in a precarious position if and when fuel prices rise appreciably.
I agree. A few years back I was looking for a C4 Corvette. A local Craigslist ad showed one less than 15 minutes away that had EVERYTHING I was looking for, even the color...but his “I won’t even pull it out of the garage unless you have the cash in your pocket” told me everything I needed to know.
I’m sort of on the fence with this one.
