And it’s ironic, because there aren’t really any Blacks in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood at all!

“The real unfortunate part of the story isn’t 4KBD vs 2KBD, it’s ownership.” - But the story isn’t saying Disney is discontinuing Blu-rays altogether; it’s saying they’re discontinuing 4K Blu-rays. And while others may feel differently, I’m not going to get alarmed for the death of physical media because of that…
From all I’ve read and seen, the qualitative difference between 4K and regular Blu-ray scans of 35mm film is bupkis. Sure, you can aim a more powerful microscrope at a piece of celluloid and produce a bigger data file, but at some point, you’re just capturing noise, not detail, and that goes for hand-drawn animation…
Just do a damn Mirror Universe movie, already. It’s such a lay-up, especially with re-using the main cast as both the heroes and antagonists, I can scarcely believe it hasn’t been done yet.
“The story is about a young African American who travels across the 1950s segregated United States in search of his missing father.” I don’t think I should have to consult Wikipedia after reading a review to have the foggiest notion of what sort of plot drives its subtext...
It’s 2020, and Disney is bleeding money. How the hell has Walter not been laid off yet?!
White American voters ≠ white Americans.
Wait, The Zombie AV Club is right wing?!
There’s a time - hell, there are many times - to righteously rail against the oligarchy. Complaining that you’ll have to wait a few months for the remake of a cartoon to stream for no added charge on regular Disney+ isn’t one of them.
“...which would kinda turn the Matrix into a sorta liberator, right?” - Kinda, yeah. Kinda like how the two siblings made a movie about a sinister computer simulation enslaving people, than made a sequel tie-in video game and an online MMORPG to profit from yoking people to their computers. :P
“when the theatrical releases of Black Widow and (good god) New Mutants are still being ostensibly protected” - New Mutants was a Fox movie, so there may be other contractual limitations at play. And Black Widow probably appeals more to a demographic with the know-how and inclination to pirate stuff, so that might be…
Or just wait a few months and Redbox it for $2...
Slim and pretty with hair = slim and pretty without hair
Rome says hello... as does Carnivàle.
As someone who never had any interest in attending a Comic-Con but has enjoyed their flurries of announcements in the past, the lack of news last week was disappointing even given the covid situation. Nada. Zip. Bupkis.
Noted: Agents of SHIELD treats its two Asian leads quite well, IMO.
You was a Netflix co-production from the very start; it just moved to sole producer when Lifetime (or whatever) didn’t get much buzz from its initial S1 airing. Cobra Kai, the existing seasons at least, is just someone’s else’s show they straight-up bought the rights to. It’s bananas. :P
“Cobra Kai: Seasons 1-2 — Netflix Original”
Notice how closely Willems toes up to the line of observing Batman Begins is, indeed, a crappy, badly directed flick. :P
Well sure, but there’s a huge difference between having merely heard of a book with a similar premise to your own new series, and having read it. ;)
