I think the actual issue people care about (specifically, Muslims care about) is that when Muslim characters show up at all they are way too often depicted as terrorists. I don’t have any data on it one way or the other and I’m not Muslim, so please don’t take this as, like, a personal attack.

There’s so much great anti-authoritarian kids lit though because kids are the victims of countless small tyrants. Wrinkle in Time, Matilda, Pippi Longstocking, Charlotte’s Web, Holes. It doesn’t need to specifically be about Trump to reinforce in kids that letting stupid bullies amass power is bad.

Which is just phenomenally stupid to me. What’s the worst that happens? They get a handful of articles talking about Disney hypocrisy? Who cares? They’ll get just as many about how brave they are for putting the movie out.

Eh, can’t really say I care all that much at this point. With the exception of Andor, all of the recent Star Wars projects have just been rather mediocre that I’m not excited for anything coming up. 

The Marvels got a C on the AV Club, which is about in line with 50 it has some critics overall on Metacritic.  So, no, the reviews were not generally positive.

The Marvels WAS bad, though. This narrative that it’s only not liked because of racism/sexism is so played out. “But see, these 3 Youtubers made videos!” is not proof of any larger picture happening. 

if Andor is any indication, they should’ve given the job to someone who barely likes Star Wars.

If the live-action SW shows he’s been involved with are any indication, then I don’t see myself paying much attention to Star Wars in the future.
