So, Narcos: Mexico S2 has been out for over a week now... and, nada? Is this The AV Club, or Gizmodo’s Instagram Feels Circle?

I don’t care what galaxy you’re from, that floppy hair does not meet infantry grooming standards.
But will Disney pay me fifty sense for subjecting me to this commercial masquerading as an io9 post? :)
“Various assumptions that the Star Wars universe might be scaling back a bit...
appear to be less obviously correct by the minute” - Lucasfilm announced a trilogy each from Benioff&Weiss and Rian Johnson. That would have been six movies. Now they say there might be a Waititi movie or a Dillard movie at some point.…
Ex Machina, “sci-fi adjacent”? It doesn’t get any more sci-fi than that flick. And then questioning whether this show is sci-fi? What’s with all the gatekeeping in this review? (From a web site that regularly posts about Riverdale and GoT, no less?)
“What was she supposed to do with her son?” - keep a closer eye on him and told Luke to do the same, obviously.
So, now that Mr. Massoud has another (at least) job lined up, will you be acknowledging that the recent io9 story “Disney Is Developing an Aladdin Spinoff Starring Billy Magnussen, Which Seems in Poor Taste” was inane kvetching? Particularly when Magnussen himself reportedly played a key role on selling Disney on the…
Yep. This is a lot of pretty words about a clusterfruitcake of a rehash trilogy. Let’s just move on, already.
“What was Leia’s failure?” - Seriously? How about not stopping her only child from going to the Dark Side, and going on to help a Death Planet murder five planets full of people (which, as leader of the Resistance, she utterly failed to discover in time, let alone prevent)? She had two jobs - to not let either of…
Yeah, B&R was actually directed by a queer guy, and it shows, which bears noting.
“they seem to credit TLJ a little more (by comparison) for at least trying something different.” - that’s how they start out the HitB review, too. And sure, they continued to take potshots at Johnson, but, to be fair, Johnson was pretty darn smug about his movie, too. I’m hoping they get around to reviewing Knives Out.…
I found the first movie splendidly enjoyable, but IV doesn’t seem to share his opinion of it here... Is this a big step down from that one, or about on par?
“The point here is that NYC has specific policies that hinders ICE’s operations.” - If you want to talk about deaths that result from policies, how many uncounted thousands have fallen victim to gang wars resulting from the War on Drugs, invented by the Nixon Administration and rabidly supported by right-wingers to…
“if they made a movie about conservatives hunting liberals would anyone want to see another one of those?” - Starring Betty Gilpin as a hunted liberal who fights back and wins? Hell, yes, please!
Haven’t seen Shazam, but I saw its trailer, and it at least promised a somewhat unique origin story. With Birds of Prey, however, we’ve got a sequel in which the main character’s origin has already been told, so, unless one considers getting over a breakup to be a compelling plot, it was doubly incumbent on the…
“a small and exclusive club” - ah, yes, the exclusivity of network TV broadcasts...
The 2:30-minute trailer gave no indication the movie had any kind of plot, and most reviews agree that was one of its weaker aspects. Moral: attitude and aesthetic are not substitutes for a compelling story.
And this is io9 material... how?
He’s a tad bit on the older side, but I like the way you think!
Oh, no! Where else will FX find a non-American/accented actor with a singularly distinct look to play an American guy who (for thematic purposes) should probably look blandly handsome?!
