it was completely roached out rotting in a desert for decades. A lot of what you see now that looks good is not original to the car.

Poorly written laws make for an easy out for both European regulators and the car makers. At best, the rules get tightened and there is a slap on the wrist. It’s not like Europe is going to destroy it’s whole auto industry chasing after this.

First generation definitely a gimmick. However, I think like anything around the second or third generation they’ll figure out all the problems and find some utility.

looks like a lot of plastic. Even without a grill, they could have given it a little more character. Instead, there is a blank space where it looks like they forgot to add something.

nobody is taking their jettas or even removing them from the road. They would have to go to do the dealer to get a software update and their car would be in compliance and registration wouldn’t be an issue.

This is pretty much the worst possible time to admit massive automotive fraud after Toyota, the airbag recalls, GM ignition, etc.

I don’t think there’s any clear answer. My guess is that the EPA will be checking a lot of VW cars to see how much they cheated in other vehicles.

so based on the cap you could put Castrol Edge or Mobil 1 since they’re both Dexos approved and paid GM some money to stick the logo on their product.

This was cool back in the day, but smartphones and other fancy gadgets will make this very obsolete.

and that goodwill probably only truly cost the dealer maybe $50 for labor and $100 for the part. So $150 of goodwill to make a customer for life.
