I know the feeling of hope at the rental counter. Last Europe trip I thought I hit the jackpot - an A4. Then I learned it had a CVT, and not a DSG. The worst was the auto stop and start.

Of cours they do, but reserved for the gifted! There is no other way to have one. I am on my second Golf with a manual, the first I gave away in running condition at 170k, and the second has 153k w/original clutch! I will consider a GTI, but Only with 6M, and brand new of course.

Yes, but just what is the name for that?

That looks like a fixie - fixed gear bike without a freewheel or brakes! Just an accident waiting to happen. Consider that most braking power is up front. Way too scary in traffic.

Don’t forget the continental (fake) tire cover that must be flipped down to access the trunk. Commonly observed in Florida restaurants at early bird dinner hour.

I will give anyone a pass with those who took deliver in Europe.

Tom, sorry about your wife’s accident. There is a reason some interstate bridges over steep ravines have windsocks. I have seen a motorcyclist on a heavy sport bike get shoved into the next lane (right in front of me) by Santa Ana crosswinds. The rider was passing from a cut section of road, with protection from the

And who sells those now in the US?

Just a valued judgement - what do you want to do with your life?

Perhaps, but will it matter much with all the connected infotainment systems in modern cars? I dread these as I commute by bicycle, and already fear distracted drivers. Life is tough is SoCal!

Like it or not, these once common cars are rare, and that justifies the price. Like common French wines, which sometime are so good, that that last few cases may command astronomical prices. They they are GONE!

Thank you. This is a really good reminder that they may be alternatives than what BMW NA specifies.

Could not be any further from the Audi if you discount the color and look at driving experience, manufacturing details, just about anything else.

Thanks for the sanity. Perhaps this person purchased too much car without other resources in place; for example, emergency funds!

Yes! My 2 cents - If you must rely on rental income of your exotic ride, then you can’t afford it!

Agreed. I wonder how much vacation she takes per year? I prefer Audit/BMW/Volvo and I wonder to what extent the longer vacations their designers have influences the quality of their work.

Nice! Mine is 31-39 minutes via bicycle! Love SoCal! A commute and a workout in one! (Got to brag cause home prices keep me from visiting exotic locals.)

I had a ‘79 model and put about 70k on it. Had no issues, and way to much fun to drive. In the 80's having a fully independent suspension, four wheel discs and mid engine layout made this design ideal. Would love to have another as a weekend toy. You just don’t see these anymore.
