I took both of these from St. Petersburg, from the same area overlooking Tampa Bay. We are a big gray dot. These were taken in an area that is red on the site. The first is the comet that came by in December and the second is some star trails and meteors in the hours before dawn.

You’d be surprised at far you might not have to drive. The trick isn’t always finding the darkest spot to shoot from (though it helps).
