Actually, that would be terrible for killing things. The spiral blade design is compounded by the extra edge surface making it very difficult to use it either as a stabbing or cutting implement. moreover the hollow handle, while cute for the tacticool crowd, makes the blade end unbalanced and robs you of striking

I can’t speak to the Tent Peg from Game of Thrones, but a Glass Breaker also known as a Automatic Center Punch is something that Everyone should have in their Cars’ glove box. While it is usually used to make a small indentation in something you need to drill a hole in. It is also something that will shatter a Car

"Oh, or do you know this full well and are just playing the be-outrageous-to-get-page-hits game?"

Mr Diaz, you are too smart

While those things are true, I still don't see a problem with selling something like this. And some people just like to collect weapons but never actually use them. It sure looks bad ass.

These are called exotic daggers, mostly used for decoration. Of course you could kill people with it, but so can all other daggers.

You might be missing something here: While all daggers are designed for killing, it's easy to wound-and-not-kill people with most daggers, if you so desired. For one thing, you could slash people, causing a non-fatal cut. You can't even cut people with this thing, you'd have to stab them.

Two things: All daggers (not knives) are designed for killing.

This is one of the best comments I've seen all year, pat yourself on the back.

I understand that rationale, but I think it's flawed and does damage to both our (already horribly complex and contradictory) legal system, and our freedoms. I have two problems with it:

I know it sounds extremely condescending when people say this, but I'm going to say it anyhow. Mr Diaz, you are too smart to not know that the "I don't like it so it should be illegal" argument is completely invalid.

Handguns are also often used for hunting, and legal automatic weapons are quite rare, expensive, and require a large amount of paper work and background checks to legally own one. The use of a legal automatic weapons either as an aggressor or a defender is nearly unheard of.

The police use them as well, so they don't shoot anyone in a room next door.

Correct! Biggest example of this would be hollow point bullets which are banned in military use by the Hague Convention of 1899. But as a civilian I can go to any gun store or even Wal-Mart for that matter and buy hollow point bullets.

yep

We are all now dumber for having read this.

Geneva Conventions only apply to governments who have ratified them. [en.wikipedia.org]

Aaaaah! I don't understand something! Quick, make it illegal!

Clearly, it's for those who are only proficient with it such as wizards or thieves.

Murder _is_ illegal. What's the point of making the dagger illegal too?
