I felt super uncomfortable last night while watching a German news program where they interviewed a French sociologist (or maybe he was a political scientist, I didn't quite catch it) who claimed that most of the anti-Semitism in France comes from French Muslims. It seemed...too convenient for this white dude to blame

I've never liked him. He's a loud-mouth who constantly thinks he's the smartest person in the room. He's always been a cruel asshole, it's just that now more people are waking up to it. Even when he makes a good point, you have to weigh it against all the horrible shit he says.

There are two wonderful things happening here in this story:

Exactly. The Muslim victims of these crimes are getting little to no attention by mainstream media here in the States. Basically social media is where I found out about the Muslim cop, the Muslim copy editor and the black female police officer that was killed.

I suspect the problem is not that women won't "act their age," but that there are so few roles written for women in their 40s, 50s and beyond in which they can be protagonists. Men who are Crowe's age are seen as pivotal, sexual, and dynamic; too often women at that age are relegated to being the helpful wife, the

If you are trying to pretend that you're still the young buck when you're my age, it just doesn't work.

Well, let's see. Nine months plus a year of breastfeeding plus another kid = at least four years of abstaining. Jesus, I didn't even go four years without a drink in high school. I really wish people would cut the supercilious "it's juuuuuuust nine months, geez!" rhetoric, clutching their pearls whenever a mom

There's no reason to stop drinking altogether while nursing, so what makes it selfish? I know, I know... you're a puritanical scold who gets some kind of sexual thrill from setting up abstinence as an inherently virtuous concept regardless the actual benefit or harm it causes.

I'm not excusing nontransparent institutions who put up these barriers like UVa did (so basically all of them) but it's not "failures on both sides." This is par for the course with universities, government agencies, etc.

Conveniently outside the statute of limitations.

And after he was forcibly outed. Don't forget that. I doubt he would have come forward about it if his wife didn't force him.

Yeah, and i find his assertion that the one victim was "extremely gracious" when he apologized to him really unsettling. Maybe she was, but there is a good chance she felt totally overwhelmed and at a loss for what to do, trapped and wanted to do whatever would make the interaction with him end the fastest way

Ha, because locking up people for an attraction beyond their control in the way to go AMIRITE??

It's impossible to believe because it's impossible.

Or suddenly stopped 20 years ago.

It's impossible to believe this only happened three times.

I told an ex I'd been sexually assaulted. He refused to discuss it. So, yeah.....

OK. Those twins are super tiny and adorable and I totally teared up at them. But that elephant kid climbing all over mom and rubbing his goddamn butt on her and she's like "FOR THE LOVE OF GOD CAN I PLEASE JUST TAKE A NAP FOR TEN MINUTES WITHOUT YOU TOUCHING ME" and he's all, "But my butt itches!" and she's laying

Yeah of course it's possible, which is why it boggles my mind RS didn't do basic fact-checking (i.e. getting the name of the freaking fraternity right) before publishing an allegation of violent felony sexual assault against a specific group of people by a specific individual whose real name is attached to the story.

Richard Bradley and Soave may have doubted the veracity of the story—which they had the right to do.
