A proper cheddar melts terribly! The fat separates right out of it. Good cheddar should be eaten alone or in an emulsion.

The flavor of cheddar just isnt right for some sandwiches.  Also the quality of american cheese varies widely.  There is some bargain basement stuff that is godawful, and some decent stuff too, especially white american which is actually a pleasure to eat by itself

It’s necessary for burgers and grilled cheese. Not my personal favorite for eating, but it’s a solid utility player. 

You can’t actually see the hand shake. And Mayfield does seem to wiggle his hands a bit at the end. It could easily be a hand slap rather than an actual shake.
