Actually it wouldn’t be Elon who would say that. He WANTS the auto industry to switch to BEVs.

So,  are you thinking what I am thinking? The Lyric..oops Lyriq and Celestiq will last 3 model years and then thrown in the trash like last nights dinner?

Their cars are amazing, but everything is still on shaky ground.

Agree valuations are through the roof but highly doubt the part about Toyota buying them out considering that Tesla is essentially breaking even while dumping billions into new factories, with automotive margins above even Porsche and rivaling Ferrari. Toyota is epitome of conservative - just look at how slow but

And yet with those deep pockets it couldn’t get the launch right.

Along these lines, I saw an old Beetle the other day with wooden snow skis strapped to the engine cover.  In Georgia, in July.

Seriously. Back in the mid 00's, I had a 98' GTI VR6 that I put a Thule rack on to go snowboarding. Even with a fairing and no actual rack on the bars, I lost 3mpg and it was loud AF in the car.

I see a guy on the way to work, when I was doing that, that has the side tent, big ass box that is wrapped in odg tarp, “gas” cans (probably empty), etc. I do not get it.

Take it off. You know they’re removable, right? There’s no reason to be dragging a tent around for the other 360 days of the year, except as a sacrificial offering to the fuel gods.

Are they living out of their vehicle?  If not, then, yeah.  That’s being lazy.

The number of roof-top tents I’ve seen on commuters in the last couple years is just stupid.

how you can immediately tell someone is a poser ass wanker: they got a pair of these on their 35k 2 year old Tacoma/Wrangler

You’d be surprised. Semi trucks are all about $/mile. And it’s hard to beat electric in $ per mile. Long distance trucks that go over 500 miles makes up only 5% of trucks. (Even that 5% has methane to compete with which is slightly cheaper)

By the calipers and the white box on the grill that would be a polestar yea? The roof looks like the v60? If so that is on the list when this WRX goes off lease.

Well, last week I did my job to make sure Volvo stays solvent and continues to make wagons.

How about a Merkur XR4ti?
