I think the overuse of theater actors was part of the problem. TV requires a level of restraint and subtlety that they just weren't accustomed to.

To be fair, I'm not sure the murder rate at Oswald was much higher than Cabot Cove, ME (or Shawn Spencer's Santa Barbara).

Yes! That's a cruiserweight storyline I've wanted to see for ages. A delusional heel well over the weight limit trying to cut down just to pad their resume with another title they've never held before. Not sure what heel would be big enough and goofy enough to pull it off though. Would have been an awesome way to amp

I'm just shocked that they still push her as being a second-generation performer. There are a lot of old wrestlers who have been erased from history for a lot less than Jimmy Snuka (he wasn't tried for murder because he wasn't fit to stand trial, not for a lack of evidence of guilt). I would have thought WWE would be

Happiness is overrated. Living up to one's obligations is more important and it ultimately leads to a more fulfilling life. A stoic perspective on family values basically leads to the same conclusion as most religions. Even as an atheist, I believe that everyone is better off living like Mormons.

Knowing that divorce is an option changes the whole dynamic of a marriage. I'm advocating a stoic acceptance that staying together for life is inescapable.

I understand that it's an unpopular view around here, but I mean it. I guess being an atheist social conservative is a pretty unpopular view in most places though.

Totally disagree on Knocked Up. Call me old-fashioned, but I firmly believe that, if you have a kid, you get married and you stay married for life. Are you in love? Are you happy? I really don't care. That's the real problem with kids today. They have this bizarre notion that they have a right to happiness. If you

It's not just that Woody was 43. He looked like he was 60. This reminds me of all of the "controversy" of Marisa Tomei playing a young Aunt May at age 52. It's not that she's actually young at 52, it's that she looks like she's under 40.

Bannon wants to destroy the state as it currently exists, and he explicitly compares himself to Lenin in that regard. It's not a libertarian impulse.

I agree, but that's not really a compromise. Bars and restaurants being able to decide whether or not to allow smoking is exactly where we were before the issue was legislated. Was there ever a time when bars had no legal right to prohibit smoking?

He's leaving government positions unfilled out of administrative incompetence, not libertarian principle. And he has no interest at all in gutting staye sponsored health care. He wants to tweak it as lightly as possible while still being able to say he repealed Obamacare. And he has, at best, a vague desire to reduce

The most annoying thing about the complaints that shows need to "take a stand" on issues is that everyone saying that would flip the fuck out if a show took a stand on an issue that they disagreed with. In almost every case, "you have to take a stand" is terribly disingenuous as it really means "you have to openly

Seeing Bayley on the main roster, I now think that Izzy's role in getting Bayley over in NXT was underrated. Something has been missing with Bayley lately and the lack of Izzy is at least a part of the problem.

Five was still the best. Despite adding more money and more stunts to each new installment after Five, the series never quite hit that mark again. That's at least partially due to Michelle Rodriguez returning in 6 with a terrible amnesia plotline.

I like the word "woke" for the same reason I like the word "cuck." It's a convenient signal that anyone saying it has nothing of value to contribute and I can safely ignore them.

Two of the biggest problems with the franchise are (1) that it neglects too many of the interesting female characters and (2) that it doesn't neglect Letty nearly enough. She's the worst. The franchise peaked in Fast Five, and it's not a coincidence that Michelle Rodriguez returned and was a major focus of #6.

Good choices. Some of these items were incredibly expensive. $4,100 plus shipping for the study room table? Dear god, that's a lot.

Not as much as I thought, sadly. The only two items I won were one of Britta's leather jackets and one of Dean Pelton's outfits. I narrowly lost the purple pen (still can't quite believe $500 wasn't enough for a pen) and Jeff's gym outfit.

The Cold War cemented Reagan's legacy as one of the greatest presidents in history, but his popularity and success are much deeper. He won 49 states in 1984 long before his Cold War strategy had really paid off.
