Thanks. I’m going to try to do both sweet (maybe sun tea, if it gets warm enough here in da burgh) and not so sweet for the fourth (diabeetus for some family members), but I’ve never made real-deal sweet tea so I appreciate all recommendations.

Anybody have recommendations on the tea itself? Am I good with straight-up Liptons? I’m neither a Southerner nor a big tea guy, but I want to make this for my big 4th party.

Here’s something weird about me: I love pickles, don’t care for them on a burger. I’ll get a burger with pickles, pick them off and eat them separately, like a side order.  Just something about the briny/acidy taste of them doesn’t jibe well with other burger ingredients for me.

Since we’re all nerds here, anybody have a good recommendation for sourcing a barebones laptop shell?  I used to get them in the aughts, having a hard time finding them now.

I’m so doing this this fall.  Thanks!

    Awesome thank you!

No problemo, I’ve tried making hot sauce via boiling, blending, and jarring, all to unsatisfactory results. Still a work in progress, one of these days I’ll figure it out :)

I was hoping you’d post the actual method you came down on as the best in the article; I’ve tried making hot sauce with middling results in the past (home-grown cayenne and habanero). Did you just throw some stuff in a blender? I don’t really need a recipe, but a quick list of what you actually used and basic

I’m pretty sure every team in the NFL has an internal MVP award, that’s not like... something weird the Steelers do.  I haven’t checked every team, but the Raiders do, and I’ll bet Brown might win it next year.

For some reason McD’s sells it as a DIY kit. They give you the fries in a little paper thingy, and you have to pry your burger apart and stick the fries on there. It’s weird.

I have two gas stations and a real-deal deli about the same distance as two subways for me, and they all make better, cheaper, faster sandwiches than Subway.  Hell, the closest subway to me is actually inside a Walmart, with an actual deli counter and bakery right there.  You gotta be desperate to hit up that Subway.

I like a fried egg on a burger, the richness seeps through the other ingredients and almost, like, emulsifies them. Get some omelette style toppings on there (bacon, sauteed shrooms, green or hot pepper, but hold the lettuce) that’s a delightful experience.

I’m surprised sushi didn’t go higher, for take out food. It’s impossible to make at home, usually reasonably priced at a take-out joint, and super tasty.

Here in the Pittsburgh area (sortof midwest-adjacent), the “Sheetz” stores are consistently referred to as “Sheetz’s”, as in “I’m going dahn to the Sheetz’s for a sub n’at”, a completely unnecessary change.

You missed the one where she said she was being criticized for pointing out that he “likes to take it up the ass”, or something along those lines (also deleted).  Reeeeeal pro here.

Stale Twizzlers are like avocados - a little ripened is perfect, but a day in either direction and you’re screwed :)

    It is a tzatziki situation.

I don’t have the energy to boycott fast food joints for screwing up an order, but your last paragraph is dead on. What’s the actual cost of a cup of fast-food mashed potatoes, maybe 50 cents? I think that’s probably high. Hell they probably throw away ten of those at the end of the night. Just give the guy a coupon,

Might be a regional thing, but Twizzlers are the superior red-flavored wax candy IMO. It’s like Oreos vs. Hydrox; I’ll eat either, but I’d be a little disappointed to get Red Vines in my Halloween sack.

My only issue with this is you can’t toast those little bagel chips at home or in an office toaster unless you have one of those rolling toaster deals (in which case, good for you Mr. McDuck).  Untoasted bagels are just gross, the nice thing about bagels is the toasted edges and soft interior, this would just get
