The first season wasn’t great. I love the book, but it gets by on clever ideas and writing, more than any kind of coherent plot. The show tried to replicate that with far too much narration, which didn’t work. Maybe a new story, inspired by the concepts of Good Omens but planned with a TV-friendly plot, will work

The sitcom gimmick is terrible, and the show does nothing at all with it.

That would be a much better show.

I like to put rhubarb puree on top of pancakes or waffles. You could add sugar to it when making the sauce, or just pour syrup on top of it at the table.

Big Mouth is great, but you need to be able to tolerate some of Nick Kroll’s more annoying wacky voices. Fred Armisen is a very minor part of the show, so he doesn’t ruin it.

Of the two “Bob’s Burgers” clones that came out in the past year, “The Great North” is better. More interesting characters, better setting, and no Josh Gad. And the songs are just as good, though they’re used much more sparingly.

Josh Gad is always annoying, but it’s like his character on this show was designed to be as irritating as humanly possible. I made it through the entire first season, but it took real effort not to fast-forward through his scenes, or quit the show entirely the way you did. I can’t think of another show that’s so

She’s a Tumblr seapunk content creator, as described in this incomprehensible AV Club classic:

Is this site or Kinja as a whole making money off China in some way?

Restaurants are shutting down for cicada season!

I also rewatched Community recently. When it first aired I couldn’t separate my own opinions of the show from the AV Club’s constant worship of it, so it’s refreshing to rewatch now. Season 3 was pretty good, except for the inexplicable focus on Chang.

I bought a bad bottle recently. I went to a liquor store I’d never been to before and picked up a 2012 French white from the closeout section. (Yes, buying from the closeout section of a new and mediocre liquor store was an obvious mistake. I know that now.)

How dare you insult the good name of the Van Buren Boys!

We’re big fans of the book in my family, and we were very excited to see that Disney made it into a movie. Then we watched the movie, and I realized there’s a reason we don’t watch live-action Disney movies. They took a slow, quiet book with a lot of thoughtful discussion of poetry and the universe, and then they

I was able to get past how much it loves The Rock (and how much it assumes we all love The Rock), but I don’t see how it’ll work as a show. There are 3 Young Rocks of different ages, plus segments with the Old Rock. It’s a half-hour show with 4 different time periods, each with its own supporting cast and mini-story.

What a smort comment.

I misread the headline as a tribute to Louie Anderson.

Historian Bret Devereaux has written extensively about the Lord of the Rings movies on his blog:

When my Thermapen broke, I replaced it with the much cheaper ThermoPop. ($34 vs. $100, not counting sales.) It’s a little slower than the Thermapen, and the temperature range is a little smaller, but it’s still far better than the average thermometer. Definitely a good choice for someone who’s just started getting

My daughter’s troop has been selling Girl Scout cookies for over a month. And it goes through the end of March. Maybe some local councils start earlier than others.
