They do, but as a workhorse truck that is offset by huge torque gains, better fuel economy (especially at low rpms), and better towing. If you’re truly using them for work, then the diesels are better for the application.

Oh no, my Mk 6 JSW is perfectly serviceable inside, but I would still rather spend time in a G30 5 series (preferably in wagon form). It is a just much nicer place to be.

I don’t disagree with your assessment, but there is one huge difference between those BMWs and Teslas that has nothing to do with the power, the interiors. I would much rather spend time in the BMW than the Tesla. The BMW interior isn’t the best out there, but the Model S interior has the feel of a Mk 6 golf with a gia…

The only right answer is the square body 3/4 ton Suburban 4x4. Solid front axle, 3 engine choices (350 SBC, 454 BBC, and 6.2 Detroit Diesel) and something like a 10,000lb towing capacity.
