This isn’t a Tesla problem, this is a modern car problem. Modern BMWs digital gauge clusters fail all the time. The entire gauge cluster has to be replaced at a cost of a couple thousand. IF you can get the part. Every brand has these issues. The heavy reliance on technology has made every car now subject to Moores

I mean... literally every other car I’ve ever owned has these unannounced changes. Often times service manuals don’t even cover all the changes. It can be a nightmare trying to maintain modern-ish cars as they get older. This applies to all manufacturers.

Motorcycle racers need to adapt to the track, not the other way around. They still manage to race on the Ring and the Isle of Man... If you can't handle COTA bumps, get better before you go there, or drive differently. 

During the F1 race I heard people say the bumps were giving the circuit “more character” and forcing teams to make decisions about ride height, suspension stiffness etc that were compromised vs otherwise straightforward “ideal choices” that we see everywhere else. Track conditions that force teams to THINK about setup

This is correct. This is the actual underlying problem. Because of their union, the police cannot be policed by anyone. Allow anyone to operate with impunity for long enough and you will see them go bad. Tale as old as human nature

God I hope it's not AWD. Weight and complexity are the last thing these cars need. 

FWD, while not something I’m interested in anymore, can be incredibly fun. A great FWD car is just a great car, no qualification needed. An Integra type R is a better car to drive in every respect than my M2.

My M2 had all kinds of weird overspray and other random stuff from new. Rattled like a shitbox almost immediately. Doesn’t feel any better built than a Jetta.

In reality the actual technology transfer is for a bunch of industries outside of automotive, because the innovation is happening in lightweight materials and not powertrains,

I’d say EV suit the lifestyle here quite well. A huge portion of Americans live in suburbs surrounding major city centers and home ownership is extremely common, as are garages. This is where electric makes most sense. Charge it in your garage at night, use it on your daily 20+ mile daily commute. Where it breaks down
