Well, at least you can go racing. This thing is an imitation race car and is fit for no series. It is just a trinket, little else. You’re a real human, so you’ve got a pretty big leg-up on this thing. Unless you’re a bot (?)

Bingo. This many gears is fine on track or in acceleration testing, but it absolutely sucks for when you’re trying to get into a nice flow on a backroad at 7/10ths and just enjoy yourself. Longer gears are actually a plus in that situation.

I think a manual is far more entertaining as a daily, so I only daily manual cars. For me, a manual adds interest at any speed, even creeping along in traffic. 2 pedal cars put me to sleep at daily speeds or in traffic, they lose any sense of occasion or specialness. The only place I’d want a DSG or similar is at a

Not trying to be hurtful, but this a stupid suggestion. And Toyota would be stupid to look at their own 86 sales data to try to make this conclusion. They should look at sales of actual comparables, like the M2C or THE CAYMAN WHICH TOYOTA WONT SHUT UP ABOUT BENCHMARKING AGAINST, and see how well the manual sells with

It’s not a dry sumped motor, so oil starvation is something you should take some precautions to prevent if you’re planning to make it a track rat. But even later 997 have problems from this or cylinder scoring. Ask a anyone who has owned and tracked an air-cooled car for long period of time and you’re likely to hear

I 100% agree. But I must 100% acknowledge that we are in the VAST minority. For most buyers, the point of the 1 series was that they could afford a BMW.

Yet walking around with a keyless fob is often like having an x-box controller in your pocket. Remember when there was a race to leverage tech to miniaturize everything? Those were the days.

Could be. Richard Porter’s book gives some great insight into how the sausage was made. I think the Clarkson era really came down to catching lightning in a bottle with the right combination of personalities, producer, writer, network, and plain old timing. It’s something that’s probably just irreproducible. Even if

Thank you for introducing me to this new form of humor. I hope to someday understand, and perhaps even deploy it in one of my own sentences.

I think Motortrend has all the old TG episodes coming to their streaming platform soon. It’s not expensive, but it costs more than torrented copies you already have

When I see Jeremy Clarkson, I often think to myself “Now there’s a man who must have great smelling breath”

Not at all. There are at least a baker’s dozen of you all, by last count

That’s not yelling, that’s just how Englishmen with inscrutable accents sound normally

Were we watching the same show? LeBlanc was totally wooden and was incapable of verbally jousting with Harris. I swear it’s not just me, 90% of LeBlanc’s scripted jokes in front of the live studio landed to the sound of crickets...

Right? This is the interesting part of the data and it’s glossed over by the author in favor of anti-ish Gentrification clickbait. No one should have to live with rats like this. The real point here is understanding why some communities feel they cannot demand action from their govt

So poor non-whites are less likely to report rats then? The reasons cited above for this lack of reporting amongst those communities are the real story here. I suspect the roots of this go back decades are rooted in some pretty problematic things like racism. This needs to change.

Yikes. Computers fail. A lot. And that’s in controlled environments. Computers in hot/cold ass cars for a decade is a whole other thing...

Damn, that’s highway robbery! I just bought a pair of Bosch upstream o2 sensors for my 996 for $92 each! “Porsche” parts are like $300 each tho

I grew up in the burbs, I never want to go back. I think they offer nothing for me other than square footage. I have a lot of friends who are back in the burbs and having kids, and they love it. Everyone has their own priorities and each place has a different value proposition. We all should just slow down a little

I think few people are cross shopping it with the M4. M2 comp is more a direct comparison ($55k list price I think?), but I can see why BMW wanted it to be positioned below the z4 version of the platform which is more like $60k.
