I’m suddenly blanking. Is there a gender neutral word for mistress? What I am wondering is what would we say were the genders reversed (i.e., a female politician having an extramarital affair)? Her lover? Paramour? Asking because (not directed at you, Hannah) suddenly ‘mistress’ seems archaic to me. Is it just me?

I honestly cannot believe this show is in its 9th season. Time just apparently flies by. I loved Modern Family when it first aired. Remember when Cam wanted to drum with the high school band? What’s a current, on-air network sitcom that folks have a soft spot for? Besides the wonderful The Good Place, I’m a big fan of Superstore. It’s sweet.

Back in season 1, the actors said that Mitch and Cam were popular with kids because they were basically Bert and Ernie. And apparently, since then, the writers have run with that dynamic. That’s why they seem like two roommates who sort of hate each other. It’s not homophobia- it’s bad writing.
