Oriely stuff is usually name brand stuff. I hear the synthetic oil is the same as...valvoline I think I remember. Their filters are wix, the batteries used to be DEKA but they changed. Try and find the beardiest member of the Oriely staff and ask them about their oils and they will probably tell you.
I just want to say thank you thank you so much to my fantastic collegues, current and otherwise, and all of you readers because it’s an absolute, improbable fucking GIFT that there’s people who read some of the ridiculous things I write, and I never stop appreciating that.
Thank you, Torch! The InsideEVs article showed up on my news feed and I couldn’t believe they were serious. That was one of the dumbest click-bait articles I’ve read in awhile.
#vanlife refers to the hipster “camping” movement where people pretend to live off the grid in a tricked out $100k Sprinter yet somehow have enough bandwidth to constantly blog about how removed from civilization they are.
Given the whole #vanlife popularity going on right now, I think VW is missing an opportunity with this thing.
My buddy and I did a square body XJ last year - rust free as they come (AZ car), sourced online, trucked to my house, spent 6 months in restoration...in the end, it was a really nice XJ, which is to say it was a crappy car in great shape. I now believe that these old jeeps are better in appropriately crappy condition…
Did you see any of his Postal Jeep write ups? He doesn’t care about driving at freeway speeds without major structural failures.
