This is what I was actually hoping would be in the article: a little math followed by a plain-english explanation of the exact person who would qualify for that loan.

lol yeah I’m quite certain you don’t ‘calibrate’ an odometer
I have owned two E46 wagons now for 9 continuous years. I am a HUGE fan of the car, obviously, and would kill for an S54 swap.
With 25,000 miles on them, no less lol
Even in Backwoods New Hampshire, if you go through EZ-Pass without the transponder, you can pay within 7 days and be all set.
I had such a vehicle, a 1971 Ford F100 with a “3 on the tree” - column shifted 3-speed transmission.
And yet Ron Dauzet has a “collection?”
I have seen an Audi TT (soft top) that must have been damp when put away for the winter... every square inch of the interior had mildew or mold or both, the steering wheel looked like it had moss hanging from it even though I know it wasn’t moss. It was atrocious, and I cannot believe the car wasn’t totaled.
Never mind the stance. Why is someone pushing a car by pushing on an OPEN TRUNK LID??
I see the VW Golf wagon thing was mentioned; I guess it depends how you view a Mini Clubman, too. It’s very close in dimensions to my 3 series wagon. A little smaller, yeah, but manageable. And available with a manual.
Bummer, but I guess, not a surprise.
I just actually laughed out loud, sitting on my couch by myself, at the turquoise thing up there. WTF. I love it.
I would write:
That car is a perfect example of everything wrong with US-market car trends. It’s like an ugly toad turned into a car.
How about cars that are older than 10k miles or 2-3 years? The math quickly begins to favor used.
Thank you. And thank you in particular for including the Ghia as an example of a neat old car you can have a lot of fun with for not a ton of money. I’d have the VW 100 times out of 100.
... all reminders of years of collecting and loving cars.
