Forget having a newer truck for that kind of money, you could have a nicely sorted older one.

Can I count a near-miss? I was driving to Colorado from New England during my college years. NOTE: This was before cell phones did anything but make calls, and before real-time traffic reporting, and before you could check the weather in another state from inside a moving car.

You’re absolutely right! I hadn’t thought about that.

I do have fogs. I wonder if they don’t count highs/lows as separate since they’re housed together? They are certainly separate bulbs, though.

My car doesn’t turn off lows when you switch to highs, and it is stock, unmodified, and very common. Hmm...

As they say,

My wife just got a Mini Cooper S 4-door - not the Countryman, but a regular Mini, with two more doors. It’s small enough, but also fun, and our two kids fit in the back no problem at all. It’s not the big family hauler (we have a Volvo wagon for that) but it checks all his boxes. Can be had manual or auto. The 6 speed

I’d like a sweet, sweet V12 in my current Volvo XC70. I’d probably need some better suspension and brakes, but let’s keep everything else completely stock.

That is awesome.

Seriously, your job is to sell cars. You should at least be neutral in terms of smell; I don’t love heavy perfume either - and you ought to know SOMETHING about the car we’re in, used or otherwise.

Wow, some of these are horrific. The worst test drive I’ve had was a manual V70R for sale at a dealer, where the salesperson with me knew nothing about the car. It was also making clunking noises on bumps and vibrating at highway speeds, they were asking $18k for the car which, at the time, was $8k more than I was

Seems impossible not to be correlated to the hurricane.

haha, sure there are! There must be some, anyway. That could well be the damage, but then, I remember there being a lot of rain with that hurricane, too. So I’m picturing 9/2017: tree damage reported, repaired (maybe body work + glass), then 12/2017: water intrusion from tree damage causing electrical gremlins, second

The first damage was reported in September of ‘17, which was right after Hurricane Harvey hit Texas.

And the damage was reported JUST after Hurricane Harvey, and the title states Corpus Christi, which was hit hard - umm yeah.

I don’t think I’d be so light-hearted about someone stealing my car and driving it for TWO WEEKS. Someone who was so oblivious to reality probably wasn’t very nice to the car, either. I’m pretty good-natured, but I don’t think I’d look at this person and just say “HAHA! This is all just SO funny! All’s well that ends

Hey, I mean, there IS a steel frame under there.

I’m amazed you went as far as you did. Any mention of a “pickup agent” is the point where I stop responding. Hell, I probably wouldn’t have made it past the “do you accept paypal for the payment option,” as my answer would be no.

Which begs the question, why not disable the ABS for the test?

I set my car up for this. Then my mother borrowed my car one day and I didn’t realize it would turn over with her driving it. I got it back with like, 123457 and change. OH THE HEARTBREAK
