What. Is. This. Place.

No seriously, boats like that have a GPH gauge, even much, much more basic consumer-oriented ones (gallons per hour).

So boring, it had to be put on a backdrop of nothing but uniform gravel to make people notice it in the ad.

Wakeboarding =/= waterskiing. But otherwise, yes. I was waiting to see someone doing this, like how someone skis behind a jeep every big snowstorm in Boston or NYC.

I live near there in NH, and have done that drive (over the Kanc) lots of times, for various reasons. It is a lot of fun, especially in the winter. Better earlier in the winter because frost heaves.

This is like daily driving a ridiculous zombie apocalypse armored death van, and suddenly having the actual zombie apocalypse happen. You don’t really want the zombie apocalypse, but hey. Now that it’s here, you’re here to help.

I’ve been daily driving a 1961 Ford truck all summer, and while it’s far from a British roadster in terms of handling, it does share some similarities. It requires a good bit of attention, practice, and patience. You can’t just hop in and point it, like a modern car. It also has things like a choke, which you actually

Yikes

I guess I’m not saying the i3 should be a 2-series clone, but that BMW clearly is capable of making a nice-looking small car, so wtf happened with the i3. Even if you like how it looks, it’s clearly polarizing, while I think most would agree that a modern BMW “normal” car is a pretty good looking thing, even if you

Why can’t it just look like this:

I had an ‘01 Suburban for a few years, and towed boats with it all the time. I also slept in the back, and carried tons of stuff in it periodically. I’d get another one (of the same generation) in a second.

I would like to hear more about this beast.

Great list. I wish my first-gen Avalanche had made it, but still, some of these made me laugh out loud and I’m having a bad day, so thank you.

Is the oil fill cap something from the old race cars as well (like the front-center fuel fill)? Those two details are the only ones that caught me off-guard on an otherwise perfect car. I cringe thinking of trying to keep the fuel hose from touching the paint as you fill it.

With hundreds of millions, forget lobbying the government. Import whatever cars you want, just import like 10 of each and keep them in your secret underground bunker? One gets impounded? Next day just grab another one.

You may have a point. I should start saving.

One of these is top of my dream car list. As in, #1, no question. I know there are better cars for the money and the 911 hype is pushing stuff like this into the stratosphere. Don’t care. This is what I want.

I agree, and I wonder how much of the time it’s just part of an estate, or where no one in the family wants to deal with it, so they just say “hey let’s send it to auction, what’s that one on TV? Sure, whatever.” All those old Mercedes SL’s and old BMWs seem like that could be the case.

It seems like a lot of those cars sold for less than half what they might sell for if they weren’t at an auction where the bidders are looking for expensive, rare stuff, and anyone interested in these assumes they can’t afford what’s on the block so they don’t even show up. I seriously want that black 535 for a manual
