Everyone: When will society allow men to feel comfortable experiencing emotional bonding with each other?
Maybe just respect their choice of them not being gay? Why is that so hard? Suddenly anything that doesn’t have gay men is “homophobic?” Or am I just not “enlightened” enough?
Persona, a beloved and decades old series is homophobic for not letting a straight written protagonist romance boys?
I get where you are coming from. But implying that 2 dudes being friendly with each other should be gay also diminishes that 2 dudes can also be open with each other and trust each other in a way that isn’t “toxic masculinity”. What I mean to say is they are best friends who care about each other. Atlus definitely…
Whoa whoa, this is too mature and reasonable of a take for Kotaku. Dial it down buddy!
Fully agree with you. I loved seeing their relationship develop the way it did. Beyond brothers really. Deep platonic love for eachother with nothing held back is one of the purest forms of love there is.
I was surprised to see it was supposed to be gay according to this article.
Why is it necessary? why force it? I am a gay man I do not need every game or media to have a character that represents me, even less when is done JUST to include it without real heart or purpose. I never saw any of them as being gay, and never had the illusion of them being gay, they do not have a gay story, so why…
Jesus Christ.
IMO it’s a pretty bad interview when the only two questions shown to be asked is if they’ll diversify the cast and what games they took inspirations from.
I can’t wait for the first loser who tries to defend these changes with a straight face. The author of this post, at least, is sitting painfully on the fence waiting to see where the general public comes down.
The big difference between this and stuff like the editing of Dr. Seuss books is that Dahl’s offensive material wasn’t just “it was a different time” ignorance. He was 100% being an offensive bastard on purpose, and taking it out is directly against the effect he was going for.
ahhh and the ministry of truth must approve all comments to align with the kool aid drinkers
Break enemy defense by attacking their elemental/damage type/weapon/whatever weakness? Unheard of outside Persona games.
SEO BABY!
Let’s not forget that Persona 5 also invented jazz.
Sorry, I think I missed out on how we concluded that Persona 5 invented turn-based RPG combat. Seems like you’d have to ignore 30 years or so of history to conclude “turn-based RPG” is “Persona 5-like”.
Kind of confused how you came to the conclusion this is “Persona 5 set in space.” Persona 5’s turn-based battle mechanics weren’t at all unique to that game or that series.
So this turn based is OK but others are bad? Turn based is how nearly all jrpgs should be once there's multiple party members because its so much better being in full control. Final fantasy 12 sucked for this reason
I bought the game full price and regret it big time. I found it pretty boring, and the whole game just felt like an open world map leading to a load screen and instanced buildings.
