I think backtracking causes annoyance because modern social media and just changes in little societal things make everyone feel like they need to move on to the next thing.  Metroid is literally a metroidvania, backtracking is a huge portion of it.  Ive fallen into the, beat the game and move on to the next one.

Thig is my new favorite word.

Meanwhile Kotaku gets one ‘thig’ wrong

non-male-friendly? What does that mean?

But the most important question of all: can I still do a pixel-perfect jump exploit to get the high jump boots at the beginning of the game?

I sincerely hope we hold US studios to the same standard the next time the US decides to destroy some country in the name of freedom and democracy.

Well the Genesis version is available on Switch with the online Expansion Pack and it has the meme intro intact. I wonder if it’s available on the Genesis mini as well.

So their crime was that A) They are a company that was originally headquartered in Russia, and B) that decided to denounce violence and war instead of denouncing publicly their country and name-dropping Ukraine?

i’m trying to figure out the same thing. the stuff i’m reading makes it seem like it’s legit people going absolutely out of control with rage over a video game company whose crimes are:

And there it is folks: That amazingly nuanced take from a typical kotaku reader we’ve all come to expect!

Hey guys, games are allowed to be games you know, books are allowed to be books, movies are allowed to be movies. Rowling can be a piece of crap and it’ll still be okay to like Harry Potter, the Russian government can be invading someone and it’ll still be okay to play a game set in an alternate universe Soviet Union.

Literally funding a war of aggression in Ukraine is a little bit more than just ‘problematic’ I would say.

Its a little odd that this game gets a pass but everyone is screaming we should boycot the Harry Potter game because Rowling said mean things about Transgenders. This game dev won’t condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine and has ties to Russian banks and investment companies, which in turn all have links to the

You guys can skip Atomic Heart to posture politically if you want to. I can’t wait to play it.

What the fuck is the controversy? The devs can’t say shit or else they’ll go to prison or be forced to fight in a war, and Mick is going out of his way to donate a huge amount to charity. And by pressing the devs on this, you’re potentially putting normal ass people who are just trying to live normal lives in terrible

While I agree that WFH is better (I’ve been doing it for 12 years!), I guess I am confused on how people got into a situation where they, as the article says, did things like sell/not buy cars, move further away from the office, etc. Did ABK ever give any assurance that WFH could continue forever 100% of the time? If

Boohoo. Find a new job then. The pandemic is over.

Let’s be real, the majority of teleworkers are nowhere near as productive as they would be in an office setting. All these triple A titles coming out with major flaws, bugs, and oversites. It is far too common since Covid started. We’re still being forced to pay full price for games that are unfinished trash heaps,

To say game quality has gone down in the last 3 years would be fairly accurate. Is WFH the cause, probably not? But with how buggy and unfinished games have been recently I wonder

Surprising nobody. Microsoft makes up for the lost sales by compensating the developer/publisher just like Epic does with their free games.
