It usually only happens for me on a very rare occasion when a game is so buggy that it tries to do something the system doesn’t expect/can’t handle that is so bad it just blows up the graphics driver. Unsurprising really, coming from Gearbox.

I DEFINITELY noticed right away in Control. But I got used to it after an hour or two. 

Yeah, they were overblown. I beat it pre-patch, and while the few times it goes into chug-mode are annoying they surprisingly don’t make the game harder, it was more like slowdown. The patch supposedly helps with it anyways, but I beat it pre-patch.
