Yeah, we could easily solve the problem by allowing people to sell their kidneys. If it is safe enough to donate for free, it is safe enough to sell. The only country that allows organ sales is also the only country without a waiting list, Iran. I would also add, that if you are rich, it is relatively easy to go to a

Living donation in many ways comes down to whether you are lucky enough to have a loved one who is both a willing and medically compatible donor

comparing a mostly white nation with a population smaller than Staten Island to a nation over 300 million makes sense...

Right. Isn’t this what this is supposed to be about? The administration made up a b.s. story to help win an election. I’d like to think this would spark outrage from all quarters.

spinning out a lengthy conspiracy theory that Clinton deliberately hid what she knew about the attack.

thanks for saying what i said but much better. These people are absolutley ridiculous. What do they want? Philosopher-kings who don’t have to face elections?

you do realize that is the law. Nearly every state and federal officeholder is prohibited from accepting gifts, with exceptions from friends and family. But they are super prohibited from accepting gifts from lobbyists no exception. And nearly every state defines lobbying as any activity meant to influence legislation.

You have no idea what Citizens United says, do you?

So you agree that people shouldn’t be allowed to spend money directly talking to politicians? I hope you’re still looking forward to a Republican congress putting Zach Galifianakis in jail for meeting with Obama about healthcare.

You really have no idea what you’re talking about whatsoever. Do you have any actual experience with lobbying or by working in a legislature? Even as an intern? Or do you just go by what you read in Gawker?

No. It isn’t. You don’t know what the fuck you are talking about.

I have a friend who had the job title of lobbyist for a year. You know what she did?

So, you want to “outlaw lobbying”...you want to outlaw free speech rights of the elderly who are fighting for housing and hire a spokesperson and an ad agency? Or any other organization?

YOU do not understand politics, you do not want people to speak.

once you do away with that pesky first amendment, and the constitution’s focus on the ability of the people to seek redress from their elected representatives, you can ban lobbying.

To *certain* religious people, anyway. The anti-discrimination set seem to not be bothered by muslim misogyny, homophobia, and anti-semitism. They know the Duggars are easy targets.

I know nothing of the bill other than what is overly simplified in this article. Do we know McNairs exact reasons for opposing this bill?

The article says it. Solid logic. There isn’t one scrap of elaboration as to how that “protection” occurs. Opposing a government action is not the equivalent of supporting the problem the action is supposedly designed to address.

His actions are in concert with a general agreement that the ordinance appears to have been written by a cabal of dumbasses. It's been a shitshow by an otherwise competent mayor. Like some of the other large cities in Texas and other states, the city council is peppered with idiots. This has been a mess from the

“No, but at least we’re trying...it makes us feel good. It really sticks it to all these religious people who have a moral objection to the normalizing of my previously deviant lifestyle. But now it’s awesome and cool and I have a RIGHT to shame people who disagree with me.”

When did McNair claim discrimination? He simply voiced an opinion and backed it up with a donation, something he’s legally entitled to do.
