Organizations within the Steubenville community, starting with the school board, most certainly should have stepped up to the plate and issued a statement condemning the action of those young men, instead of defending them and/or attempting to conceal their actions.

I'm sorry but failing to make a statement may cost the LGBTQ community more than you think. Specifically, it is not about hating people, it is about respecting people and addressing directly issues that are negatively impacting a community.
