Tree of Life actually sounds a lot like Aronofsky's The Fountain. Maybe it's the title, or maybe it's the fact it's spanning many years, or the reflection on cosmic existence.

This column got me wondering. Is there a near-future science fiction novel that has considered what society would be like if there was a definite doomsday event that was seen in advance? Something like the hypothetical that setup this column? If written well, that would be a fascinating read.
As much as I want her included, Serenity isn't a starship. The 'Verse is canonically a single solar system, and Serenity doesn't travel faster than light.
@kityglitr: The girl Roland falls in love with is Susan Delgado. There is a remark at one point (probably from the insane Detta) about how similar the names are, but they are different. Here's hoping the rumor is confused too, although I would think Susan Delgado would need to be a lot younger. Roland was 16 at that…
Only a single rainbow. So it fails the awesome test. Double Rainbow All The Way!
@jblues: Having recently reread through the third book, I think I remember seeing it mentioned that Ghost was still growing. So I don't expect them to be huge in the first season of the series, it isn't until A Clash of Kings that hear about Grey Wind attacking humans, so it makes sense that they'll be small.
@Wookielifeday: I will absolutely agree with you on that!
@Wookielifeday: And Davy Jones was green and tentacly not pale and lithe. CGI can do wonders sometimes.
@Burke: I think the plot is going that Diana became too attached to human emotions after being in the human skin so long. Because of that, she probably has chosen to keep the skin, because it makes her different from her daughter and the other visitors.
@Meander061: That's what I wish Sci-Fi (Syfy) would do instead of their crappy Z-list Saturday creature features. Take that cash and turn it into several well done miniseries instead.
@starjade: The second and third are better (if that's possible). Book 4 is rather lackluster in my opinion due to Martin's decision to write it from the B-class characters. Still a must read though.
@chucky2jimmy: I had flashbacks of her character from Mass Effect 2 :-)
@Odin: It's funny,I think it's because this wasn't like the other Stargate shows that I really liked it. I've been watching through the first season on Netflix and have had a hard time conquering the "just one more episode" bug. I never watched SG-1 or Atlantis, so I don't really know what I'm missing, but I'm…
@tbonesteak: Michael Sheen has said in an interview that he based his Castor performance on Ziggy Stardust era Bowie and Marc Bolan.
@jenndavo: That man is a chameleon. I have trouble recognizing his face, since it's always different in every movie. It's a good thing I recognize his name and can enjoy every second of his performances.
I would also like to point out some of the ideas presented by Neal Stephenson in Cryptonomicon - especially the need for data havens and the opposition to the wide release of information.
@Coen: It being on our side means that there should be a race for the good guys to try and retrieve it before it gets sent over. It seems they've refined the transfer process, so the component shouldn't be too hard.
@Coen: I think the whole thing was a long con game by Walternate. There was a mention made in this episode about Walternate not being able to find all the parts to his machine, so he needed to look in our universe. He made Peter and the team believe they needed to build it so that they would locate and excavate all…
@tonyx3: I've been uneasy about the travel times in this show for a while - it's the one area that really affects my suspension of disbelief. I know they have the resources of the FBI (which is amazing considering Mulder was forced to hide in the basement), but the travel between Boston and NY is way too fast. They…
@fskornia: Oh, nevermind, I see they were going with the face with the forelock. I still think showing the S would have been better.
