Swimming does that for long course competition. The LCWC are held in odd years. In even years opposite the Olympics they have the Pan Pacific and European Championships.

So competitive swimming is not a super popular sport, and short course (25m) is even less popular than long course (50m), but I just thought I would point out that Katinka Hosszu (aka Hungary's Iron Lady) is attempting one of the most ambitious feats in sports history right now at the Short Course World Championships…
