I think the auto workers who built them thought “meh” as well. I had a friend in uni who bought one new right after graduation. When he went to pick it up from the dealer, he noticed that the front half was a Ford Tempo, and the rear was a Mercury Topaz. He kept it anyway.

I just read the bill. Vehicles in 17 counties in Texas will still be subject to yearly emission testing. Mostly the counties surrounding Austin, Dallas, and Houston
It should be noted that, in Texas anyway, an emissions performance inspection and the safety inspection are different.
