YEEEEEEEEEEEEEE BUDDY! THAT SWEET, SWEET #9, MEDIUM, DIET COKE.
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEE BUDDY! THAT SWEET, SWEET #9, MEDIUM, DIET COKE.
That's real - I'm not saying she's right or that you are; people seem to be confused or just missing point.
What Jada Smith is saying is that if you think it's not normal, it's because you're viewing this 13 year old through a sexualized lens. That is, she's saying that there's nothing objectively sexual in this photo; you have to project it and in doing so, you're essentially projecting sexuality onto a child.
I think what she's saying is this: if you think this photo is sexually inappropriate, that process requires sexualizing Willow by thinking of her as a sexual object/subject. That is, you're the one doing the sexualizing, not the subject of the photograph.
You're less cynical than I - good on ya :)
Damn, just read my response to you and it sounded super rude! My bad - my tone was way off. I was actually agreeing with you too but it definitely didn't come off that way!
And for those of us that don't consider rape to be the same as sex and/or who don't consider rape titillating, it's extremely off-putting. As I said, I know why they do it - doesn't make it more justified.
I'm proud to say my younger self wouldn't have given a fuck about my relationship status, since all she cared about was reading and her dog and her friends and her art projects at school. Wish I could say the same about my current self ;)
GRRR I hate the background rapes at Craster's Keep. I wonder how they're written into the script:
The commenters I'm referring to were not expressing their personal ideologies.
I love that everyone is a judge. "Innocent until proven guilty" doesn't apply to the court of public opinion. If commenters aren't the judge presiding in this case or a member of the jury, they don't have to cover up their victim blaming with "IUPG" claims.
LOL love that the assumption is that the vic is a "she" (cause ladies be false rape-accusin', amirite?)
Read as much of this as possible and take the time to put content aside to focus on the culture of class in terms of gender/race identity development if you need to. Maybe it'll be fine, but WAATBKSTITC can be helpful for racial issues which also apply to gender. I've made mistakes in the past of focusing on content…
LOL I'm dying at this exchange!
