Aw shit...

Have you ever seen Princess Leia when she didn’t have that flowing baptism sundress on?

Then it is my middle age agreeing. Can’t stand the too cool approach.

Right? I’m at the place where I would much rather deal with someone who tries too hard because they actually care about what they are doing and what people think and how people feel. I’m definitely over the whole “I’m too cool to try” thing. Although that might just be my middle age talking.

“Exuberantly kind” is such a gorgeous way to describe someone. I love hearing about people being nice.

I’ve been looking forward to this movie since seeing the trailers a little while ago. I’m especially interested to see Anne Hathaway do something that’s quite different and unexpected for her.

I briefly met Anne Hathaway ~11-12 years ago, in the lobby of the Trump Tower apartments of all places (I was visiting NYC, had a family member who lived there and her now-known shithead embezzler ex lived there too). I was a huge Princess Diaries fan and I was basically foaming at the mouth.

Man, you guys owe this woman a 50-page apology. I don’t know why anybody hates her— someone didn’t like the sincerity level of a speech she gave and that’s why so many years of public abuse and loathing? Or something? But she sounds 10x smarter & more self-aware & more gracious than any writer here, in any event.

This was a shitty phenomenon when it happened, and a super boring one except to everyone it hurt—especially Hathaway herself.

She always seems super nice and her advocacy for LGBT+ and women’s rights is pretty damn awesome. I still don’t understand where the hate came from.

I love her. Yes she’s a bit over the top sometimes (which celebrity isn’t though?) but she’s consistently good in all of her roles and she seems pretty grounded. I never got the hate.

Anne Hathaway’s biggest offense was being an overly earnest, try-hard theatre kid. I grew up with theatre kids and have never, ever had an issue with her. She’s talented and seems nice.

Never got the hatred focused on Anne Hathaway? I have always liked her. I have zero problems with her and have pretty much enjoyed all of her movies.

When I look at the female celebrities who seems to generate an inordinate amount of dislike I see a common factor in that they like themselves and refuse to pretend not to. JLo likes herself. Lea Michele likes herself. Anne Hathaway likes herself. There’s none of this “Oh, I’m such a dork. I’m just like everyone

Exactly!

one of the things I’ve noticed that alot of people miss about the original movie is that there’s a scene in the movie where Motoko is traveling to Section 9 and she see’s three different people with the exact same shell as her and the scene ends on a shot of a run down clothing store full of naked mannequins.

The funny thing is that it’s about the ‘Ghost in the Shell’: that is to say, the soul/ghost, the identity of Major, not her outward appearance (the shell). She is an entity that is not defined by her shell. ( she lost her own body a long time ago ). It’s all about finding new identities in a rapid changing world of

So is Chell. She tried to murder a completely harmless supercomputer with a penchant for neurotoxin and dead scientists.

Sorry I might have worded my initial statement poorly. I know that the two games occupy the same universe. But there are people coming up with super complex theories connecting the two, and then Valve's writers just piss on it by coming up with ridiculous story ideas for Portal.
