I’m trying to decide if an “All Female Hero” universe would be better or a gender-flipped universe.

I think some of you are too quick to blame the kids and other life stuff. Truth is I’m 35, single, and have lots of free time....yet my gaming time has crawled to a halt. Played the hell out of my 360, but by the end of that gen I was already burnt out and still haven’t grabbed an Xbox One and have no desire to do so.

Just to bluntify your comments, I hate how babyish lots of gamers are. They’re horrible people. I make games for these people and I hate them. I take genuine pleasure in taking money from them, sitting back in the evening with a glass of whisky and thinking “those bell ends paid for this”.

I’M OFFENDED BECAUSE YOU INSULTED A MACHINE I LIKE. TAKE BACK WHAT YOU SAID ABOUT MY COPIER.

I’m in the same boat. It is annoying to have to wait for the install/update, and I hate that the video game industry has just accepted this “release it on deadline full of bugs then release a giant patch within the first couple of weeks to make the game as good as it should have been in the first place” bullshit.

It’s really about ethics in functioning game systems.

The comments so far are delicious.

Don’t sweat the difficulties, Albert. If we know one thing about gamers, it’s that they’re not particularly hypersensitive to any sort of direct or even indirect criticism about their hobby.

Agreed, not to mention that arcade games in the 90s looked far, far, better than that, with brighter colors, larger sprites and smoother edges.

Agreed. I’m sick of people constantly saying “8bit” without even bothering to study the actual art style.

Pixel sprite rotation like this in the 90s?
Incoherent pixel resolutions?
Labelling 16-bit aesthetics as 8-bit?

My smartypants are really comfy today. :)

I think some people have forgotten or maybe weren’t around at the time. Because this happens often in these imaginings of retro games. This looks more like a 16 bit game with 8 bit music added. The graphics remind me of Super Star Wars. A 16 bit game.

As much as I love Furiosa, I’m glad about this. She had that triumphant final scene, and I’m happy to leave the character there. The alternative is forcing her into stories where she has nothing to do, artificially creating sequels or prequels or sidequels, each of which runs the risk of ruining what made her so great

That said I’d be down for a Furiosa movie that did not involve Max.

That was my thought. Her story was (excellently) completed at the end of Fury Road, and now Max has to move along and get sucked into some other group’s problems.

The only character that carries over between Mad Max movies is Max. Furiosa’s story was told, telling more of it would probably just stretch the material too thin and be shitty.

“I agree that those are the real reasons why. I’m just not sure those reasons should justify making these sorts of contracts.”

Because they are cheap, have demonstrated definitetalent, have madea good impression on theright people, and don’t have a huge ego / aren’t used to have free reign.

It used to be that small-scale directors could prove themselves with medium-budget projects, but now the middle has been cut out due to the new finances of the film world. Still, I love What We Do in the Shadows. It is delightful. But he may or may not be able to make a $100 million plus movie.
