I have actually used this exact approach against someone who pulled a knife on me, and it worked like a charm. Many victims of crime remain silent for some reason, and if you yell you not only attract attention, but the attacker finds the situation uncomfortable. Certainly mine did.

Though if you try to use the "The company would be better served by me not doing this" excuse, you sound like a major douche, if someone else says it that is different.

The approach of consciously reducing your anxiety, and working to understand the mechanics/physics of what scares you, and then gradually working your way into doing the activity, and maintaining a fairly regular level of participation in
