How long until there’s a detailed post somewhere on how to “hack your way into Tesla’s Beta program”.

Literally came here to say this...

I think this is a great idea. Most of the time when I rent for business, i don’t use anywhere near a full tank of gas. If Hertz is willing to forgo the ludacris fuel charges most rental companies charge, I wouldn’t be too bothered.   I would also expect Hertz to partner with some hotel chains to have charging stations

Is this Owner Operator contract work? Like its fine if you make $100k, but if you have to own and maintain a $100/k semi truck (which is fucking EXPENSIVE), AND pay your own taxes, AND self finance benefits, that $100k is diluted quite a bit.

Hire Truckers? There isn’t a driver shortage because they can’t get around to hiring them, there’s a driver shortage because it pays shit money, it’s a really tough/dirty job, and no one wants to do it.

This... SO this... As someone who works in tech, but pre-dates tech’s existence, I’m completely over this. Tech can replace a lot of things. You know what it can’t replace, bureaucracy... You know what there’s a ton of when it comes to registering, titling, licensing and insuring(sometimes) cars?

This sounds like solid advice if you want people to think you’re an asshole, which clearly you don’t seem to be concerned with.

I once had a Saab 900SE. I changed my own oil because it required both synthetic oil, and a freaking $9 copper gasket. Once while changing the oil outside in my driveway, in december, in new england, I slightly overtightened the oil filler cap and it broke. The cap was attached to the dipstick, so obviously this part

I dropped my car off for service (recalls) at the dealer this morning. I dropped in to see some of the guys in the sales office (I worked at this dealership 10-15 years ago). I listened to one of them (a 30 year veteran) spout about how its “never going back to the way it was” and “they don’t have to return to

I don’t buy an overpowered laptop because I need it “right now”. I buy it because it’s got the latest hardware, and will (hopefully) last longer than buying the bare minimum spec machine.

The entire inkjet printer enterprise is based on the same model. Make the hardware relatively cheap, and make your money on the consumable. (See also: men’s disposable razors). They never spend much time on engineering something for longevity because it’s not worth it to crank out these printers that retail for $100.

Anyone can draw a picture of something that looks awesome.  Come talk to me when the project has been executed successfully, on budget, and looks like these happy mockups...

Did anyone else think that picture was a giant lightswitch surrounded by a honeycomb? Perhaps I need to go back to bed.

Pirating = Bad

I’m in if we can make OTHER people’s drive “more chill”.

wait wait wait... I’m paying $199 for a noise machine?

Plot twist, they only work with Blackberry phones...

Well, I suppose it fits into their shift to relatively useless slideshow content factory.   I find it incredibly frustrating.  My guess is that there are deadlines, and quotas and much much less editorial oversight... And what do they care anyway? If you clicked on the shit and saw the typos, it means they got their

Prosciutto is $15/lb... While that looks fucking terrifying, if my wife saw me making a scary face with it, I’d have other reasons to be afraid.
