“There you go, bringing CLASS into it.”
Well, it’s not like Jake framed Gintars. He was selling counterfeit merchandise. Maybe the victim is a faceless corporation, but it’s still a crime and Jake is a cop. I doubt Gintars is going to be picked up by Interpol when he lands back in Riga, but it’s certainly grounds for revoking his visa. When Latvia sen…
“...it’s so much easier.”
Personally, I love Gwyneth. I only know Goop by reputation (granted, that reputation is not good). I was delighted to see her show up on WU, and I’m happy to ascribe it to “good sport” motives rather than “sponsored content” motives. And yes, I’ve seen Kathy Griffin’s bit about interviewing Gwyneth on the Red Carpet; I…
In 1977, there WAS no movie called “A New Hope.” There was, however, a very popular movie called “Star Wars” and I suggest you seek it out. It was a lot of fun.
To be fair, in the “Hitchhiker’s Guide” universe you can walk ito any pub in the Galaxy and order a “ginandtonic” and probably receive something pleasantly intoxicating.
The idea “We can indulge light drunkenness because we have ways to counteract it when necessary” seems a lot more “human” to me that the “We’re highly evolved so we don’t crave intoxicants” theory behind synthehol.
“they probably would have homaged Battlestar Galactica before Mass Effect”
Captain Raymond Holt may have come up with the acronym but there’s no way he would have plced the only space between “enforcement” and “directives.” “TRI PLEDR AGON” is basically unpronouncable, though, so I believe he would run everything together: TRIPLEDRAGON.
It may not be a perfect analogy but it’s the only analogy available (or something like it). Yes, there are humans who consider eating meat immoral, yet few of them consider it immoral for lions to kill and eat a zebra, but most traditions leave moral choice within the realm solely of human beings. There are ants that m…
I don`t want to come off as overly confrontational, but what is your opinion of clitorectomies? Abhorrent to me, abhorrent to modern Western sensibilities (the Victorians might have had a different take), but in some cultures it’s commonplace. We can pass laws making it illegal here, but how big of a stink can/should w…
I agree, and of course there are options short of war for ending the relationship (although we know the traditional Moclan way of finalizing a divorce). I’d like to get Klyden off the ship as soon as possible, and a breakdown of Moclan relations within the Union would be a good way to do it. The Moclans call all their …
“I think the fact that the weapon was supposedly holographic when that’s really not possible, ”
Yeah, if your first exposure to a joke was from The Simpsons, that doesn’t mean The Simpsons didn’t take it from somewhere else. Probably Steve Allen.
“people like his trump more than the guy on the President Show”
“That Marge—dragooned into service as Krusty’s unflappable assistant director ...”
Loved it. A+
The only real contender for “Worst of the Night” (IMO) was the Rambunctious Boys sketch. It didn’t work the first time, and it was just as bad this time without the benefit of being new.
He’s a TV recapper for a pop-culture website.
