I think I have the key to his late-career revitalization: renaming himself Blacker Mamba.

Dammit, take your star.

Since this guy doesn’t want to use writers with principle, I’m perfectly content to stop using him, ESPN, and the horse they rode in on.

Eh, it’s not like the word “motivated” is super clear anyway (is a motivation a reason, or a desire, or some combination of the two?)

My simple test for whether a killing was an act of terrorism: did the murderer expect to benefit materially and personally from the death of this individual? If no, then the motivation

Maybe headlines should read: “likely an act of racial terrorism.”

At some point, I feel like we men have to take responsibility for the toxic masculinity that gives rise to this. The brand of insecure egoism that gives rise to the obsession to control women and especially exes is a perversion of actual strength and honor, but those values are nevertheless part of its source.

Short-term, maybe. Over the long term, though, teams/leagues will realize that choosing their fanbases on the basis of who has the most corrupt mayor is not a way to build a large and committed audience. If enough mayors call bullshit on this blackmail, I bet the leagues will move to a different system of stadium

If I did an insole along these lines, it would read:

Can’t do it

Because the players have a union. I’m sure the owners would prefer to be able to fire their employees at will, but labor organization has forced them them into due process.

Did I grade your paper this semester?

Keeping in mind Josh Marshall’s Trump’s razor — the stupidest explanation compatible with the facts is likeliest to be true — I bet Trump has paused on this only because he thinks DACA is about children — that is, people who are children right now. Once he finds out for sure that most aren’t children anymore, the

Okay, but how much of what you’re calling the “need to be responsible” and your worry about the “wrong neighborhoods” is NIMBYism?

Another thought. The odds of someone this shallow and mercenary tagging her brands for free have to be pretty low, right?

+ 1 on this idea. Instead of appealing to the dozen or so elite families, why not embed the local team with the majority of the community? And give people jobs with the team, the gym, or the shops?

Clearly, what we need above all is a monument to the distinction between “less” and “fewer.”

I feel like the Trump administration is giving us all an object lesson in the psychology of evil. Evil people never think they’re evil: there’s always a twisted web of self-deception and twisted justification that explains how they’re actually doing the right thing.

I gotta admit, I see where they’re coming from. I’ve been fighting the impulse all my life, and the better part of me knows it’s not healthy, but I still can’t help thinking that if I was green I would die.

Um, “Scotch whiskeys” is a contradiction in terms.

Don’t know if this is too risky — maybe all the Confederates should be simply ignored and forgotten— but what would people think about statues of Pat Cleburne in the deep south? Cleburne was the Confederate general who proposed freeing the slaves, and was immediately deemed unreliable, un-promotable, and killed in
